Itinerary

DAY 1: CUSCO - CLOUD FOREST – RAINFOREST

We will pick you up from your hotel at 5:30 a.m. in our private transport. As we journey through stunning mountains and valleys, we will arrive at the charming folkloric town of Paucartambo, where we will take a brief walk to explore and have the option to enjoy a local breakfast. Afterward, we continue for about 40 minutes to Acjanaco Pass (3495 m.a.s.l), marking the entrance to Manu National Park.

Once inside, we will embark on a hike through the misty cloud forest, searching for a variety of wildlife, including Peru’s national bird, the cock-of-the-rock, as well as quetzals, toucans, and playful monkeys. Later, we will reach our lodge and settle in for the night. For those interested, there will be an optional night walk to spot fascinating jungle creatures like spiders, frogs, snakes, etc.

DAY 2: HUMMINGBIRD GARDEN – HOT SPRINGS – DORADO LODGE

In the morning, we will drive to visit a Hummingbird Garden, a true sanctuary for nature lovers. We will be able to observe various species of hummingbirds, monkeys, and colorful tanagers and barbets that adorn the surroundings with their beauty.

We will embark on our boat for a scenic two-hour journey downstream. As we move along, you’ll be immersed in the sights and sounds of the rainforest, with lush greenery and wildlife providing a captivating backdrop. Our second destination will be the natural hot springs, a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of the jungle. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to relax in the warm waters while surrounded by the tranquility of nature.

As the sun begins to set, we will arrive at our lodge, where you’ll have time to relax and unwind after the day’s journey. Once refreshed, with a bit of luck, we may encounter some of the rainforest nocturnal creatures, such as owls, colorful frogs hiding among the foliage, slithering snakes, and even the occasional tarantulas.

DAY 3: MANU RESERVED ZONE – JUNGLE TRAILS – NIGHT EXCURSION

We will set off early in the morning towards the reserved zone of Manu National Park. After some time of navigating the river, we will arrive at the Limonal Control Station, the official gateway to the park’s reserved zone. Here, we’ll complete our entrance procedures before embarking deeper into this pristine wilderness.

During our journey, the riverbanks may reveal a variety of incredible wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for alligators, turtles, monkeys, capybaras, macaws, and much more. If we’re lucky, we might even catch a glimpse of the elusive jaguar.

In the afternoon, we will take a guided walk through the untouched jungle, exploring the diverse flora and fauna that thrive in this remarkable ecosystem. Surrounded by the ancient trees and the sounds of the forest, you’ll experience the beauty and serenity of one of the world’s most pristine rainforests.

Enjoy a night jungle walk to discover nocturnal animals in their natural habitat.

DAY 4: SALVADOR LAKE– MACAW CLAY LICK - TRAILS EXPLORATION

Early in the morning, we will visit Salvador Oxbow Lake. Here, you’ll have access to a comfortable catamaran, perfect for relaxing while observing the abundant wildlife in the area. Keep an eye out for giant otters as they fish and play along the lake’s edge, as well various species of monkeys, hoatzins, falcons, herons, toucans, and more.

Afterward, we will head to the renowned Macaw Clay Lick, an unforgettable sight where species of macaws gather in the early morning hours. You’ll have the chance to witness the vibrant scarlet macaws, blue-and-yellow macaws, and many others as they feed on the mineral-rich clay, a vital part of their diet.

In the afternoon, we will venture deeper into the pristine jungle, walking along winding trails surrounded by lush vegetation. You’ll have the chance to spot more wildlife, particularly different species of monkeys, birds and some mammals. Our expert guide will share fascinating details about the flora and fauna, enriching your connection to this untouched wilderness.

DAY 5: MANU RESERVED ZONE – LIMONAL STATION (Ceiba tree) – DORADO LODGE

We depart early from the lodge for another chance to spot wildlife along the river, and with some luck, even the elusive jaguar. After a few hours, we arrive at Limonal Station, where a trail leads us to a magnificent Ceiba tree, one of the giants of the jungle.

In the afternoon, we return to Dorado Lodge, allowing time to rest and enjoy some free time amidst the lush rainforest surroundings.

DAY 6: DORADO LODGE - ATALAYA PORT - CUSCO

Today, sadly, we say goodbye to the jungle. We will take a boat from the lodge back to Atalaya Port, and along the way there will still be chances tospot wildlife from the river. Once we arrive at Atalaya, we’ll continue by vehicle on our return journey to Cusco.
