Near the city of Cusco is a protected area of almost two million hectares “Manu National Park”, which is waiting for you to be explored. We will have chances to see beautiful landscapes, learn about the customs of the people, and enjoy the spectacle that the animals give us; It is possible to find the Andean Cock of the Rock (Peru’s national bird), different species of monkeys, mammals or even caimans.

We will pick you up from your hotel at 5:30 a.m. in our private transport. As we journey through stunning mountains and valleys, we will arrive at the charming folkloric town of Paucartambo, where we will take a brief walk to explore and have the option to enjoy a local breakfast. Afterward, we continue for about 40 minutes to Acjanaco Pass (3495 m.a.s.l), marking the entrance to Manu National Park.
Once inside, we will embark on a hike through the misty cloud forest, searching for a variety of wildlife, including Peru’s national bird, the cock-of-the-rock, as well as quetzals, toucans, and playful monkeys. Later, we will reach our lodge and settle in for the night. For those interested, there will be an optional night walk to spot fascinating jungle creatures like spiders, frogs, snakes, etc.
In the morning, we will drive until we get a garden of hummingbirds. After spending some minutes over there, we will take the boat and go to our lodge to have lunch.
In the afternoon, we walk through trails where there is an opportunity to find monkeys, hoatzins “pre-Hispanic birds”, horned screamers, oropendolas, etc. After some minutes of walking, we are going to arrive at Machuwasi Oxbow Lake where you can ride on local rafts and watch birds from a tower.
As darkness falls, our expert guides will lead you through the wild, searching for elusive snakes, tarantulas, mysterious owls, scorpions, croaking frogs, and so much more. With each step, you’ll uncover the secrets of the nocturnal world and witness these fascinating animals in their natural habitat.
We will start the day with a boat ride along the river, heading toward a special clay wall, also known as a “collpa,” where large numbers of vibrant parrots and colorful macaws gather to feed on the mineral-rich clay. This spectacle is an unforgettable sight, as dozens of birds flutter about, filling the air with their bright colors and distinctive calls.
After an hour of navigation, we will begin a one-hour hike that will take us to a small but stunning waterfall, located deep in the heart of the jungle. After enjoying the beauty of the place and relaxing in its natural surroundings, we will return to the starting point of the hike, where we will have the opportunity to soak in the naturally occurring hot springs, offering us a unique therapeutic bath.
Next, we will savor a delicious traditional lunch before returning to our lodge to rest. If you still have energy in the evening, we will invite you to a night walk to discover the magic of the jungle in its most mysterious form, observing the wildlife that comes to life as night falls. An unparalleled experience!
After our breakfast, we will have three hours to explore the majestic primary forest, surrounded by towering ceiba trees, known as the giants and mothers of the jungle. During the hike, we will stay alert for monkeys, toucans, insects, and much more.
We will also visit an Ayahuasca plantation, a plant famous worldwide, where you will receive a full explanation about this sacred plant from the Peruvian Amazon.
After lunch, we will learn how to use a bow and arrow (the same ones used by the tribes in the national park for hunting) and will also enjoy a revitalizing clay therapy in the jungle, followed by a refreshing bath in the Manu River, all while continuing to observe exotic birds and, if we’re lucky, maybe even the mighty red howler monkey. In the evening, we will embark on a night walk to search for more fascinating insects.
We will start the day with our breakfast at the lodge before embarking on a boat trip to explore the surrounding waterways and enjoy the scenic views. From there, we will proceed to the port of Atalaya, where we will transfer to a vehicle. Next, you’ll have the option to visit an exciting animal rescue center, where you can get up close with local wildlife and learn about efforts to protect unique species. An amazing experience to discover rescued animals and the work being done to ensure their well-being.
On our way back to the city of Cusco, we will make strategic stops to enjoy a typical lunch and use restroom facilities, arriving in Cusco at approximately 4:00 p.m., just in time to make the most of the rest of your afternoon.
