Itinerary

DAY 1: MADRE DE DIOS RIVER – MONKEY ISLAND – NIGHT EXCURSION

Upon your arrival at the airport or bus station, we will pick you up and take you to our office to finalize details. Then, we will sail for approximately 40 minutes along the majestic Madre de Dios River until we reach our cozy lodge. There, you will be welcomed with a delicious refreshing juice while your guide provides you with key recommendations for the exciting jungle excursions.

After a well-deserved rest, we will head to the fascinating Monkey Island, located in the middle of the Alto Madre de Dios River. In this natural paradise, you will have the opportunity to observe various species of playful monkeys. Additionally, if you’re lucky, you might spot sloths and turtles in their natural habitat. Following our meal, we’ll embark on a two-hour guided hike through the tropical rainforest, accompanied by an expert local guide. You will learn about medicinal plants and marvel at giant trees over 600 years old. Throughout the journey, there will be plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife such as monkeys, macaws, reptiles, arachnids, and much more.

At night, we will embark on an exciting adventure along the Madre de Dios River, where you’ll have the chance to spot elusive caimans, majestic owls, capybaras, and other fascinating wildlife that come to life under the stars.

DAY 2: SANDOVAL LAKE – RAINFOREST – NIGHT EXCURSION

Sunrise is one of the best times to observe the abundant wildlife at Sandoval Lake, located within the Tambopata National Reserve. We will walk along a 3 km (1.8 miles) trail through the jungle, amazed by the natural richness of the area. Upon arrival, we will board a canoe to explore Sandoval Lake, where you will have the chance to spot black caimans, giant otters, herons, turtles, monkeys, macaws, and more.

In the afternoon, we will take guided walks along the trails of our lodge, exploring the unique biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest. Our expert guides will show you a variety of medicinal plants, towering trees, and exotic wildlife such as toucans, macaws, and small mammals. These walks will allow you to appreciate the natural beauty of the area and gain a deeper understanding of the ecosystems that thrive in this vibrant region.

As night falls, the jungle reveals its fascinating nocturnal life. Equipped with flashlights, we will explore the trails in search of nighttime wildlife such as porcupines, sloths, spiders, reptiles, opossums, night monkeys, and owls.

DAY 3:  LOCAL FARM – LODGE – BUS STATION OR AIRPORT

After a pleasant night and a good breakfast, we will visit a local farm where we will learn about plant grafting and soil types. We will also have the opportunity to taste and see typical rainforest crops such as coffee, different types of cocoa, bananas, and more. We will return to the hotel around noon.

After lunch, you have the option to rest at the Lodge. At sunset, we will return to the city to collect your luggage if you left it at our office. Then, we will head to the airport or, if you are traveling by bus, to the bus station.
