ITINERARY
DAY 1: Cusco – Cloud Forest – Rainforest
We’ll pick you up from your hotel at 5:30 a.m. in our private transport. As we drive through breathtaking mountains and valleys, we’ll arrive at the charming folkloric town of Paucartambo, where you can stretch your legs with a brief walk and optionally enjoy a traditional local breakfast. Afterward, we continue for about 40 minutes to Acjanaco Pass (3,495 m.a.s.l.), the gateway to Manu National Park.
Once inside the park, we’ll embark on a hike through the misty cloud forest, keeping an eye out for diverse wildlife such as Peru’s national bird—the vibrant cock-of-the-rock—along with quetzals, toucans, and playful monkeys. Later, we’ll settle into our lodge for the night.
DAY 2: Hummingbird Garden – Machuwasi Lake – Night Excursion
In the morning, we’ll visit a beautiful hummingbird garden, spending some time observing these tiny, colorful birds in action. Then, we’ll take a boat ride to our lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, we’ll explore jungle trails where you might spot monkeys, hoatzins (ancient “pre-Hispanic” birds), horned screamers, oropendolas, and other wildlife. Our walk ends at Machuwasi Oxbow Lake, where you can enjoy a ride on local rafts and watch birds from an observation tower.
As night falls, expert guides will lead a thrilling nocturnal excursion to discover elusive snakes, tarantulas, mysterious owls, scorpions, croaking frogs, and more—offering a rare glimpse into the secrets of the jungle after dark.
DAY 3: Parrot Clay Lick – Primary Forest – Night Walk
We’ll start with a scenic boat ride along the river to a special clay wall known as a “collpa,” where dozens of vibrant parrots and macaws gather to feed on mineral-rich clay. This spectacular natural event is a perfect opportunity to observe and photograph these colorful birds up close.
After breakfast, you’ll have three hours to explore the majestic primary forest, surrounded by towering ceiba trees—giants and mothers of the jungle. During the hike, we’ll watch for monkeys, toucans, insects, and more. After lunch, enjoy a rejuvenating clay therapy session in the jungle, followed by a refreshing swim in the Manu River, all while continuing to observe exotic birds and, with luck, the impressive red howler monkey. At night, another nocturnal walk will reveal more fascinating insects and jungle life.
DAY 4: Boat Ride – Wildlife Rescue Center – Return to Cusco
After breakfast at the lodge, we’ll embark on a scenic boat ride along the waterways, soaking in the sights and sounds of the jungle. We’ll then head to the port of Atalaya, where we’ll transfer to a vehicle for the journey back.
You’ll have the option to visit an inspiring wildlife rescue center, where you can get close to local animals and learn about ongoing conservation efforts to protect these unique species.
On the way back to Cusco, we’ll make stops for a traditional lunch and restroom breaks. You’ll arrive in Cusco around 4:00 p.m., with plenty of time to relax and enjoy the rest of your day.

DAY 1: CUSCO – CLOUD FOREST – RAINFOREST
Your adventure begins early with a 5:30 a.m. pick-up from your hotel in private transport. Journey through breathtaking mountains and valleys until you reach the charming, folkloric town of Paucartambo. Here, enjoy a brief stroll to explore the town’s local culture and, if you wish, savor a traditional breakfast.
Next, continue for about 40 minutes to Acjanaco Pass (3495 m.a.s.l), the gateway to Manu National Park. From this point, immerse yourself in a hike through the misty cloud forest, where the lush canopy shelters diverse wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for Peru’s national bird—the vibrant cock-of-the-rock—along with quetzals, toucans, and playful monkeys.
Later, arrive at your cozy lodge, where you’ll settle in for a restful night. For those keen on nighttime adventures, an optional guided walk offers the chance to spot fascinating nocturnal creatures such as spiders, frogs, and snakes.
DAY 2: HUMMINGBIRD GARDEN – HOT SPRINGS – DORADO LODGE

Afterwards, embark on a scenic two-hour boat ride downstream, surrounded by the vibrant sights and sounds of the rainforest. Your journey will lead you to natural hot springs, a serene oasis tucked deep within the jungle where you can soak in warm, soothing waters amid the tranquil wilderness.
As the day draws to a close, arrive at Dorado Lodge for a chance to unwind. When darkness falls, join a night walk guided by experts, and you might encounter owls, brilliantly colored frogs hiding among leaves, elusive snakes, or even the occasional tarantula.
DAY 3: DORADO LODGE – MANU RESERVE – AGUAJE LODGE
Rise early for an exciting journey deeper into the Manu National Park Reserved Zone. Navigate winding rivers surrounded by dense jungle, rich with wildlife. Upon reaching the Limonal Control Station—the official entrance to this protected area—you’ll complete the formalities before venturing further into pristine wilderness.
Along the riverbanks, watch for alligators sunbathing, turtles resting on shore, monkeys swinging playfully through the trees, and large capybaras grazing peacefully. If fortune smiles on us, a rare jaguar sighting might be possible—a truly unforgettable experience.

DAY 4: SALVADOR LAKE – MACAW CLAY LICK – TRAIL EXPLORATION
Start early with a visit to Salvador Oxbow Lake, where a comfortable catamaran awaits to take you on a peaceful cruise. Keep a lookout for giant otters playing along the water’s edge, lively monkeys, hoatzins, falcons, herons, and other fascinating wildlife.
Next, head to the famous Macaw Clay Lick, where dozens of colorful macaws—including scarlet and blue-and-yellow varieties—gather to feed on mineral-rich clay. This breathtaking spectacle offers prime birdwatching and photography opportunities as the sky fills with vibrant colors and the calls of these magnificent birds.

Afterwards, continue your search for the majestic jaguar along the Manu River. Following this, return to the Limonal Control Station to complete your exit procedures before heading to your next lodge.

DAY 6: DORADO LODGE – ALTO MADRE DE DIOS – BAMBU LODGE
Depart Dorado Lodge for an exciting journey upstream along the Alto Madre de Dios River to Bambu Lodge. Along the way, take breaks to immerse yourself in the abundant biodiversity of this remarkable ecosystem. Watch closely for wildlife along the riverbanks and take advantage of opportunities to cool off with a refreshing swim in crystal-clear waters.
After reaching the port of Atalaya, transfer by vehicle to Bambu Lodge. Settle in and enjoy a restful evening surrounded by jungle tranquility.
DAY 7: BAMBU LODGE – CLOUD FOREST – RETURN TO CUSCO
Enjoy a relaxed morning with breakfast at the lodge, allowing ample time to pack and prepare for your journey back to Cusco. This peaceful start to the day lets you take your time and savor the final moments in the jungle.
During the journey back, there will be several well-timed stops for lunch, restroom breaks, and stretching to ensure your comfort. Expect to arrive in Cusco around 3:00 p.m., giving you the rest of the afternoon free to relax or explore the city at your leisure.
