These birds are among the most striking and fascinating in the animal kingdom. They are primarily distributed throughout the rainforests and woodlands of Central and South America, making them one of the most iconic birds of the Amazon region.

Manu National Park in Peru is one of the main refuges for several species of macaws. Its great diversity of habitats, ranging from mountain forests to the lowlands of the Amazon jungle, provides an ideal environment for these birds. Here, macaws can find food, breed, and thrive in a relatively protected setting. This park serves as an example of the importance of conservation in preserving not only macaws but also the entire biodiversity of the Amazon region.

MACAWS IN MANU NATIONAL PARK

Macaws are characterized by their bright colors, which include a wide range of reds, blues, greens, and yellows, making them a true visual spectacle. Their large, curved beaks are perfectly adapted to break open fruits and seeds, which make up their main food source.

Life Time
Macaws can live between 40 and 60 years, depending on the species and the conditions of their environment. In Manu National Park, known for its unique biodiversity, macaws find an ideal habitat, which contributes to a longer lifespan.

Social Behavior
Macaws are highly social birds that tend to live in small groups or pairs. These birds are very loyal to their companions and maintain monogamous relationships, meaning they typically pair for life. Pair bonding is crucial during breeding, as both parents share the responsibility of caring for and feeding their chicks.

Feeding Behavior
They are often seen feeding in pairs or small groups. Macaws are primarily frugivorous, meaning their diet consists mainly of fruits, seeds, nuts, and, to a lesser extent, bark and leaves. Their large, curved beak is a powerful tool that allows them to break open the tough shells of fruits and nuts to access their nutritious contents.

Below, we are showing you some of
